2016's Suicide Team theatrical loss was, according to director David Ayer, a departure from the original vision for the DC movie – and was "ripped to pieces" by Warner Bros. Now, one of the editors World Health Organization worked on the projection has spelled out exactly how contrasting the so-named 'Ayer Cut' was from what we ended improving seeing in cinemas.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, David Hickman outlined how Warner Bros. "wanted to take things in a different direction" with Suicide Squad.

First and foremost, that participating qualification the movie a lot lighter. "[Ayer's] was a much darker pic," Hickman said. "It was almost like a Black Hawk Down typewrite thing. Information technology was just very militarized, very serious. I mean, of track there were expected to be comedic moments with Will Smith, but it was a darker film."

It was structure, as well as flair, that was affected. Hickman discovered Warner Bros. hot the "parentage of the characters to happen much nigher to the beginning," instead of existence scattered throughout the first 45 minutes of the movie. "We kind of shoved everything into the watcher's face right up front soh that we could get the story passing," atomic number 2 explained.

Hickman even echoed Ayer's previous remarks that more footage from Jared Leto's Joker – who made a unpunctual return in Zack Snyder's Justice League in the new Knightmare episode – was left on the cutting room floor.

In 2020, Ayer said Leto's scenes encumbered "incredible acting" as a "terrifying" Jokester. Hickman aforesaid that while he thought Leto "did a really upstanding job" as the Clown Prince of Law-breaking, "we righteous couldn't find a purpose for it because sometimes he would just decamp on such crazy, insane tangents and it would be really hard to weave IT into the film."

However, it doesn't look like David Ayer's managing director's cut will ever straighten out of day. Charles Dudley Warner Bros. CEO Ann David Sarnoff said in an interview with Variety that the studio "won't be developing David Ayer's trimmed" – and the director responded happening Twitter with a tragicomic face emoji and one intelligence: "Why?"

It's a question that might reverberate for some futurity – only is unlikely to ever so get a Snyder Cut-style answer. A new Suicide Squad moving-picture show, oriented by James Gunn, is due call at August.
